Annville, Pa. – The U.S. Army Recruiting Company – Harrisburg hosted a Mega Future Soldier Event Dec. 10 at the National Guard Training Center on Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, Pa.
More than 75 Future Soldiers and their guests attended the event, which showcased training sessions on Airborne Operations, simulator training on M-16, drill and ceremony, and Army family and community programs.
In addition, the Harrisburg Recruiting Company Commander Capt. Ryan Greenawalt and 1st Sgt. Frank Parker gave advice and counseling to the Future Soldiers in what is called the Future Soldier Asset Inventory.
This Future Soldier event was organized by the Harrisburg Opportunity Center’s Future Soldier Leader Staff Sgt. Daniel Gordon.
Gordon said he developed the event to provide friendly competition and informative training for the Future Soldiers. He added that the one-on-one time that the Future Soldiers had with the drill sergeants was to give them first-hand knowledge of what to expect at basic training.
Recruiters and Future Soldiers from all three of the company’s opportunity Centers – Harrisburg, Lancaster and Reading – participated in the event.
The drill sergeants were from Company “C,” 1st Battalion, 417th Regiment, headquartered at the National Guard Training Center on Fort Indiantown Gap.
