Clairton beats Montour 18-7 for PPL West title

Last year's runner up Clairton HS Captured this year's PPL West championship. The team will challenge the winners of the PPL East game scheduled on June 25

HARRISBURG, PA – Clairton high school knocked off Montour high school to win the 2nd Annual Pennsylvania Passing League (PPL) West Division tournament at Gateway High School on June 11. The U.S. Army’s Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion was the title sponsor of the event for the second-straight year. Clairton, the two-time defending PIAA Class A champions, finished second in the 2010 PPL West Division tournament. Montour edged defending champion PPL West champion Gateway, 13-12, in the semifinals while Clairton advanced with a come-from-behind win over Baldwin.

In all, 19 teams from throughout western Pennsylvania participated in the event at Gateway High School. Each team played a minimum of four games with three pool play games to determine the seeding for the single-elimination championship bracket.

The Pennsylvania Passing League (PPL) East Division is set for June 25 at Susquehanna Township High School.
