Cedar Cliff students reach for the sky

Students from Cedar Cliff high school reach for the sky by scaling the battalion rock climbing wall at the school’s annual field day.

It comes every year, and this year recruiters from the Mechanicsburg Opportunity Center partnered with Cedar Cliff high school JROTC and the athletic departments to offer some additional challenges to the students.

Sgt. 1st. Class Gary Black, the reserve recruiter at the center stated, “We have been working for the last few months to become a part of this day and it has been a great experience and really created a strong relationship with the school.”
More than seven recruiters were on site at the school and the students kept everyone busy.
While Juniors and Seniors and the JROTC cadets climbed the wall other students were doing push up, walking the track or taking a go at the school’s balance beam.
It wasn’t all physical activities going on, at lunch the school treated the recruiters to  barbecue  and by the end of the day four appointments were made.
“We are already talking to bring in the wall, our pull up bar and electronic push up mat as well as a few mental challenges in the fall,” said Black, “We plan on really challenging them mentally and physically when they get back in the fall.”
