Week 5 winners for Army STRONG Wrestler/Wrestling Coach of the Year

The Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion announces the winners for Week 5 of the Army STRONG Wrestler/Wrestling Coach of the Year for Pennsylvania, honoring Pennsylvania’s best high school wrestlers and coaches.
Shady Side Academy’s Geoff Alexander is the Army STRONG Wrestler of the Week for Pennsylvania. Alexander won this third weight-class title at the Allegheny County Wrestling Championships, beating Upper St. Clair’s Mack McGuire in the 125-pound weight-class final. As a weekly winner, Alexander is now a finalist for the Army STRONG Wrestler of the Year for Pennsylvania.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Sonny Abe is the U.S. Army Coach of the Week for Pennsylvania. Abe coached his squad to the team-title at the Allegheny County Wrestling Championships with 225 points to best second-place North Allegheny. Six Viking wrestlers advanced to weight-class finals at the event. As a weekly winner, Abe is a finalist for the U.S. Army Coach of the Year in Pennsylvania.

During the season, the U.S. Army and “The Sports Flash” (TSF) Radio Network will accept nominations for the Army STRONG Wrestler of the Week from Recruiters, BN staff, fans, the media, wrestling coaches, and athletic directors.

Each Monday during the wrestling season, TSF Radio Network will announce the nominees for the Army STRONG Wrestler of the Week online at http://www.TheSportsFlash.com.

Voting for the weekly winner will continue until 9 p.m. EST on Thursday. The weekly winner will be announced on Friday.

Each weekly winner will be a finalist for the Army STRONG Wrestler of the Year.
